"Aeris and Tifa"

Why did I draw this? I don't know. I rarely draw anything that is not of my own conception, but anyone that knows me knows I loved Final Fantasy VII. Obviously it can't compete with some games these days, but for that time period and my experience with games at the time, it was a grand experience to say the least. I used to play old DOS and text games before that, so you can imagine the leap.

But, Aeris was always my favorite character. Unfortunately, contemporary Final Fantasies have become too Japanese, ending up with piss-poor characters like Yuna and Zidane or the Selphies of the world - cliche Japanese characters. The bubbly girl, the quiet and sexually dominated girl (the cliche ideal mate in Japan it seems)... not to mention the massive amount of mannerisms that are exclusive to Japan that many people wouldn't pick up on. But anyway, point being, the girls of FF7 (excluding Yuffie possibly) actually had real personalities that weren't one-sided, four word descriptions. "Busty goth doll carrier" for example. Or perhaps "whiney faggotry-bordering moron." That last one could apply to several characters now that I think about it.

With the release of Advent Children, it was nice to see the characters made a little bit more realistic. (Thank you for fixing Barret.) This little image is slightly modeled after their new bone structure but still uses a good deal of the original game's previous design. For example... what happened to Tifa's boobs in AC? Sure, I don't care, but it's curious how one can lose literal pounds in one's "upper girth" like that. Of course in the game they were twice the size of her head, so it was a wonder she didn't break in two when her fulcrum realigned.

This was almost a sketch, since with drawings like these I kind of scribble my way through them, but I liked it enough to put it in the Concept section, although I think I had to fix Aeris' eyes, which were too high originally. I also lopped off the bottom section of the image because Tifa's massive, horrifying, possibly self-aware breasts were devouring a massive section of the paper.

By the way, I'm not calling her Aerith. And I'm not calling Tifa "Tee-fuh."
