"2845 Character Wallpaper"
From left to right: Dawo Otobe, Sunder Cain, Orlanda Konovalev. My first real attempt at a wallpaper, I decided the only way to do it properly would be to use ink, lest my drawing fall prey to the sketchy appearance all of my pencil-drawn images do. I tried to keep the appearance of all of the characters, even the weapons they hold, with only slight variations. Orlanda proved the most challenging since she's a woman and hence required a less amount of detail. I ended up doing a lot of shading I didn't originally want to do on her face as a result of her lack of detail. The most difficult thing to shade on the entire image was hands, as I had never really tried to make a hand look realistic, only to get its proportions correct. The most difficult thing to draw itself was the Coil Gun Sunder is holding, as it's the most intricate thing in the picture that I had the fewest liberties with. It becomes increasingly difficult to ink when I come to larger areas that require a lot of shades, as I only have a simple ink pen on-hand. My recognition of the extreme liberties inking offers increased with this drawing dramatically: while pencil drawings require specific shades, ink only has black and white, so you can shade almost any area and get away with it visually. |
